SC: Art; Requiem.

2022 was harsh. A year of loss and grief. A year that taught me new pains and odd joys. 

This is my feeble attempt at bringing together scraps from this dark haze.

The illustrations contained in this artbook tangentially chronicle my journey from roughly August 2022, where I was hospitalized with Stevens-Johnson, to the torment of grief that was september and october, culminating in my uncle's passing away in October 30th, continuing unspecifiedly, as I still am struggling and wrestling to turn this page over.

The illustrations accompany no comment other than the original filenames, at least for now. As such, the images are unplugged from their context; I invite you to plug them to your own.

Perhaps this may change, and I may write about the artworks and what chronicled some of them sometime. 2022 was also the year I started therapy with a psychoanalyst. This has greatly heightened my ability to look at myself through my art. But naturally, reliving these moments is a struggle. Suffice to say, one of these illustrations was drawn as I waited outside of the ER, right after witnessing what I didn't yet understand was a prolonged stroke from my beloved father figure. 

Releasing this is a provocation in itself. I've long been afraid of seeing myself as an artist. My work as art. Still am. Won't ever not be. But every child's first scribble is imbued with incalculable meaning. So I took up to my own challenge, and here it is.

Technical notes: Consider all digital artwork as having been made on Clip Studio Paint, on a Galaxy Tab S7+. One or another may escape the rule but that is usually the case.
